Call for workshops
(The call for papers is also available as a pdf download here)
In 2011, the Conference GEOINFORMATIK, takes place for the third time co-hosted by the University of Münster (Institute for Geoinformatics), Gesellschaft für Geoinformatik (GFGi), Geonetzwerk Münsterland and GiN e.V. (Verein zur Förderung der Geoinformatik in Norddeutschland).
We invite submissions for workshop sessions and tutorials for GEOINFORMATIK 2011. This year’s conference is being held under the theme “GI and Global Change” or “Geochange” in short. The three-day conference offers an opportunity to researchers in the field of GI Science to share ideas, discuss state-of-the-art applications, and explore emerging research directions. Whether you are a researcher in academia or a GI-expert in industry, you are welcome to participate in shaping the future of GI Science at GEOINFORMATIK 2011.
In addition to a full English track for Research submissions and a German/English track for short papers presenting innovative applications, GEOINFORMATIK 2011 will also host a number of short tutorials and workshop sessions. Parties interested in organising either one are invited to submit a proposal in one of the following two categories:
- Tutorials (proposals of up to 3 pages) covering a research topic related to GI science in general or to the overall conference theme. Tutorials, if accepted, will be allocated a 90 minute slot in the main conference programme. They should cover a specific area of research and should be accessible to researchers and practitioners with a basic understanding of geoinformatics. Proposals for tutorials should provide a brief outline of the proposed tutorial, its relevance in the context of geoinformatics or the conference theme, and they should also highlight the expertise of the person(s) intending to deliver it.
- Workshops (proposals of up to 3 pages) covering a research topic related to GI science in general or to the overall conference theme. Workshops, if accepted, will be allocated a 90 minute slot in the main conference programme. They should cover a specific area of research and should be accessible to researchers and practitioners with a basic understanding of Geoinformatics. Workshops should have a strong interactive component but can also invite brief presentations by other parties. Proposals for workshops should provide a brief outline of the proposed workshop including a detailed schedule, expected number of participants and planned activities as well as a brief description of the desired outcomes and target audience.
The organisers of accepted tutorials will get free admission to the conference. The preferred language for both types of events is English.
